Fine-dining food. Flaming tableside cheese. Sneakers welcome. Listening yet?
Welcome to Nomad, where date nights get a little fiery.
Let’s be honest. Date night in Polaris can start to feel predictable. You know the drill: another chain restaurant, the same menu you’ve seen before, and a meal you’ll probably forget by next week. Sigh.
If you’re ready to shake things up without dressing up, Nomad is the kind of place that makes date night feel fun again.
The first clue? Someone lights your appetizer on fire.

It’s called the Flaming Saganaki and it’s sharp, salty sheep’s milk cheese. Baked. Brought to your table. Flambéed with ouzo. Then finished with fresh lemon juice. It comes with warm fire bread for scooping up every last bite. And yes. You will be saying, “wait, is this really happening?” the entire time. Dinner = instantly memorable.
If you can fit in another appetizer, the shrimp okonomiyaki is also worth adding to the table. It’s a savory Japanese pancake packed with cabbage, soba noodles, shrimp, and onion. Then, it’s topped with crispy leeks and Japanese barbecue sauce. Yes, please.

But the real star of the show is the oven behind it all.
Nomad is home to one of only about 100 Josper charcoal ovens in North America. Imported from Spain, this charcoal-fired oven reaches high temperatures that lock in flavor while searing meats (and veggies). The team spent four years bringing one to the U.S. before building the restaurant around it.

Instead of importing meat from Spain though, they took another route. They partnered with local Ohio farms because they believe Ohio-raised beef and pork deserve the same spotlight. The result? Some of the most flavorful steaks and chops you’ll find anywhere in Columbus.
If you’re wondering where to start, you can’t go wrong with their famous pork chop. It’s topped with a rich peach-ancho mole, crunchy jicama slaw, and spicy pickled chiles. The bavette steak is another fan favorite, and seafood lovers rave about the blackened walleye and chimichurri salmon.

Delicious food aside, we’ve gotta talk about the cocktails.
The Bourbon Corn on the Cob Old Fashioned somehow tastes exactly like summer. Brown butter-washed bourbon, fresh sweet corn, black pepper, and simple syrup. It’s a drink that’s buttery, smoky, and unlike anything you’ve probably tried before. If that’s not your style, the cocktail menu is packed with creative options, from spicy margaritas to barrel-aged Manhattans.
Want to make date night even better? Show up early in the week when the specials are flowing – just get in before 6 pm for any of them:
- Tuesday and Wednesday = half-off appetizers
- Thursdays = half-off cocktails
- Fridays = half-off bottles of wine
- Saturdays = half off everything on the bourbon wall
Again, those are all 4:30-6 pm… the perfect reason to kick your night off early.

So if you’re looking to bring the fire (literally) to your next date night, Nomad delivers. It feels slightly upscale without being too pretentious, serves flaming cheese (need we say more), and is the kind of place you’ll both be talking about long after. So check out their menu, make a reservation, and start looking forward to an unforgettable night.
