Somebody finally said it, and they’re not even from here.
A European couple who travel full time for a living (they’re living out my dream, btw) just posted a YouTube video about their first trip to our beloved city, and it’s spreading like wildfire.
Why?
They came in expecting nothing more than an “average” experience, and left completely blown away. The video is titled “Our First Time in Columbus, Ohio”, and if you’ve ever had to defend this city to someone who’s never actually visited, you’re gonna want to check it out (and probably bookmark it for the future).
If you live here, you know the drill. Someone finds out you’re from Columbus and immediately thinks “flyover state, boring, flat, nothing to do, why would anyone stay…” The list goes on and on. This is the video that you respond with.

Who Are These Lovely European Tourists, Anyway?
The video comes from 2Passports1Dream, the channel run by Dylan Evans and Adriana de Pertis. Dylan is from Wales and Adriana is from Sweden. The two of them did what the rest of us are afraid to do and quit their day jobs to travel full time. Their content usually comes from places like Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia, not the Short North.
But their background is exactly what makes this reaction land so well. These are two people who have seen a real chunk of the world, showed up in Columbus with zero hometown bias, and still came away with excellent things to say about our city. And we can’t get enough of it.
Honestly, we’d love to be friends with them.
