Have you been craving pizza, but you’re sick of the same old same old? Are you trying to get more adventurous than just a Hawaiian pie? Lucky for you, Columbus has some pretty crazy and adventurous pizzas scattered around town.

From Taco Pizza to Crab Rangoon Pizza and everything in between, these are the most crazy and creative pizzas in Central Ohio.

Hounddog’s Pizza | Señor Dog Taco Pizza

2657 N High St, Columbus, OH 43202

Quick! Name two things that are universally loved. Did you say pizza and tacos? Well those two things have been combined to form one giant, round, universally loved thing — the Taco Pizza. This pie comes with Salsa, cheddar cheese, seasoned ground beef, black olives, jalapeños, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. It’s like Taco Bell and Donatos had a big, beautiful, tasty baby! Wait, that sentence didn’t turn out as good as it sounded in my head.

Dewey’s Pizza | Porky Fig

Multiple Locations

This pie is especially interesting due in large part to the fig jam base that takes the role of the sauce. Atop the fig jam is mozzarella, fontina, prosciutto, caramelized red onions, and gorgonzola. Weird? Yes. Delicious? Also yes.

Pies & Pints | Thai, Grape & Gorgonzola Pies

Multiple Locations

Pies & Pints is home to not one, but two completely unique pizzas that were worth highlighting. The Thai Pie comes with shrimp, toasted coconut, Thai curry sauce, lime, cilantro & basil, which is tempting to say the least. The Grape & Gorgonzola Pie is more straightforward but equally as crazy and creative, with red grapes, gorgonzola & fresh rosemary.

DiCarlo’s Pizza | Any Pizza on Their Menu

91 E 5th Ave, Columbus, OH 43201

DiCarlo’s Pizza is truly in a lane of their own when it comes to unique pizza. That’s because they are one of the lone proprietors of Ohio Valley Style Pizza, which originated in Steubenville, OH in the mid 20th century. What makes it so unique? First, the pizzas are cooked in a large baking tray, so the pies are rectangular as opposed to circular. But that’s not all… their cheese and other toppings like pepperoni are added on *after* the pizza comes out of the oven. This means the cheese gets only partially melted, and the crust stays extra crispy. We know, it sounds weird. But take it from me — it’s legitimately delicious.

Harvest Pizzeria | Spicy Yuma

Multiple Locations

This pizza combines the spicy goodness of food south-of-the-border with classic Italian pizza, making for a world of flavor. A chipotle-spiked tomato sauce serves as the base, with a 4 cheese blend of gouda, havarti, mozzarella, and provolone atop the pie alongside chorizo, jalapeño, corn, roasted red pepper, and cilantro. Is it just me or is your mouth watering too?

Mikey’s Late Night Slice | Hot Mikey’s Takeover: Ma’s Mac Edition

Multiple Locations

The collaboration we all were waiting for… Mikey’s Late Night Slice x Hot Chicken Takeover = Hot Mikey’s Takeover! This year, we are treated to a pizza that is smothered in Hot Chicken Takeover’s famous ranch, Nashville hot chicken, pickles, and Ma’s mac & cheese. It sounds so good that it brings a tear to my eye.

Yellow Brick Pizza | Crab Rangoon Pizza

Two Locations

Do ya like Asian cuisine? What about Italian cuisine? If you answered yes to both of those questions, Yellow Brick Pizza’s Crab Rangoon Pizza may very well be your long-lost favorite. Covered in cream cheese sauce, mozzarella, crab claw meat and surimi, cheddar, green onions, crispy wontons, and duck sauce, this pizza ain’t messing around. I think it’s actually really good. You may disagree (you’re wrong), but at the very least, it’s cool to say that you tried it.

Plank’s Cafe & Pizzeria | Turkey Tom

743 Parsons Avenue, Columbus, OH 43206

If you’ve ever been stuck between ordering a sandwich or a pizza at a restaurant, Plank’s Cafe & Pizzeria has solved that problem for you. Their Turkey Tom is like a turkey club on a pizza, with turkey, bacon, tomato, garlic, butter, cheese, and a chipotle ranch drizzle to top it off. It’s so sandwich-coded that I could see Subway trying to rip this off a few years down the line.

Paulie Gee’s | Cherry Jones

1195 N High St, Columbus, OH 43201

Presumably named after Dallas Cowboys *gag* owner Jerry Jones, this pizza has seemingly nothing to do with him. Unless, of course, he likes fresh mozzarella, gorgonzola, prosciutto, dried bing cherries, and orange blossom honey on his pizzas, in which case this pizza is aptly named. Regardless, this pizza sounds super intriguing, and you can take it to the bank that I will be taking a trip to Paulie Gee’s to try it out in the very near future.
