Buckeye Bargains History
It all started in 1966 when there was a move to create a way to serve the University and its communities. The result was the formation of a thrift shop that the members named Buckeye Bargains. Through the assistance of Marjorie Fawcett, the wife of the OSU president, Buckeye Bargains opened in the old veterinary surgery theater at 17th & Neil, across the street from University Hall.
Today, Buckeye Bargains sells a vast array of items for very little cost as a convenience to our OSU population, yet donating substantially to the UWC Scholarship fund.
More Information
All proceeds from Buckeye Bargains go to the UWC Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for OSU students, with particular attention to women enrolled at The Ohio State University Columbus Campus.
We emphasize clean, current and in working order for all donations. If you have dishes, kitchen items, (no knives) glasses, small appliances, clean wearable clothing,(new socks only) jewelry, linens, sheets, towels, blankets or other usable household goods, please consider donating them to Buckeye Bargains! We do not have the space to accept large furniture. A dated and signed tax receipt is provided for your donations, or a BB worker can stamp, sign and date your own itemized list.
