Come to a supportive creative writing circle led by Carnegie Center of Columbia Tusculum’s Artist-in Residence Sherry Cook Stanforth.

Across generations and heritage identities, the idea of “home place” invites creative, diverse interpretations of historical and personal experiences. In the questing spirit of novelist and renown activist Harriet Beecher Stowe, we will explore the complexity of “home” experiences through a unique set of prompts. Each workshop session is designed to inspire reflective discussion, creative invention and supportive sharing. Themes include kin, friends and strangers; healing and foodways; migration and settlement; handed-down heritage traditions and artifacts; work and play; home landscapes and waterways.

  • Develop craft tips for your poetry, fiction and memoir practice
  • Find new ways to engage in family and community storytelling
  • Seed new writing projects inspired by surprising historical and cultural content
  • Enjoy camaraderie with supportive writing peers and talented featured guests
  • Learn about arts/cultural/writing opportunities happening in Greater Cincinnati and beyond

This program is adaptively designed to support new and experienced writers. Offered in partnership with the Carnegie Center of Columbia Tusculum, Urban Appalachian Community Coalition and Originary Arts Initiative, as part of THE MOVING STORIES PROJECT.
