The Level Up Series is a rotating set of focused, small-group workshops designed for intermediate ceramic artists looking to refine technique, build efficiency, and gain more control in their studio practice. Each two-hour session offers personalized instruction and targeted skill tune-ups in a supportive, hands-on setting.
Plates From Slabs — Two Ways Workshop Info
This session explores multiple approaches to creating strong, functional plates and platters using slabs. Participants will learn proper slab preparation, compression, and texture application, along with forming techniques using wood or plaster molds. Terri will also demonstrate an efficient method for making slab plates on the pottery wheel. The workshop will cover strategies for preventing warping, refining rims and surfaces, and offer practical glazing suggestions. Ideal for ceramic artists who are comfortable with basic hand building and want to level up their slab work with greater consistency and intention.
Throwing Off the Hump Workshop Info
This session focuses on building speed, consistency, and confidence through throwing multiple forms from a single mound of clay. Terri will cover centering for the hump, efficient hand positioning, clean cut-off techniques, and strategies for maintaining consistent scale across a series. Ideal for potters who already throw independently and want to improve production skills and workflow at the wheel.
