The Historic Worthington Inn is finally getting a second life… and honestly, it’s about time.
After sitting closed for nearly eight years, the landmark property is coming back thanks to Wolf’s Ridge Brewing, a name that already carries a lot of weight in Columbus for all the right reasons. And interestingly enough, it’s not just about the beer.
If you’ve been to Wolf’s Ridge before, you know the deal. The food is the star of the show. Their Dining Room has built a reputation for elevated, thoughtful dishes, while the Taproom leans more experimental and laid-back. And then there’s Understory, which might quietly be one of the best patios in the entire city (seriously, it’s that good).
Now, they’re bringing that same attention to detail and atmosphere to one of Central Ohio’s most historic buildings.

Wolf’s Ridge at Worthington Inn
The Worthington Inn isn’t just another old property getting a facelift. It dates back nearly 200 years, originally serving as the home of Laura Kilbourn Cowles and her husband, Rensselaer Cowles. If the Kilbourn name rings a bell, it should. Laura was the daughter of James Kilbourn, the founder of Worthington all the way back in 1803!
(Side note… We need to bring back the name Rensselaer.)
Over the years, the building has worn a lot of hats. It’s been a hotel, condos, and most recently, a restaurant before closing its doors in 2018. Since then, it’s been hard to ignore sitting right in the heart of Worthington, looking like a piece of history stuck in limbo.
That’s what makes this reopening feel different.
Instead of just preserving the building as something nice to look at, Wolf’s Ridge is actually bringing it back to life.
And not in a small way.
They’re stepping into a space that means a lot to the community and giving people a real reason to come back. For Worthington residents, it’s the return of a landmark. For the rest of Central Ohio, it’s another chance to experience one of the best restaurant groups in the city… just in a much more historic setting.
You can check out more details about the project here. Otherwise, we’ll see you there on April 29th!
