Sometimes, the vacation you need is right in your backyard. Well, not actually. We’re quite confident that you can have just as satisfying of a vacation here in Columbus as you could elsewhere – especially if you consider the small amount of travel time.

We know it’s not going to be the same as a trip to Greece, but sometimes you gotta work with what you’ve got – and Ohio can really clean up nice.

Here’s where to stay in Columbus and how to make the most of a staycation!

The Junto Hotel

77 Belle St, Columbus, OH 43215

Columbus’ hospitality scene just got even more spectacular with its newest introduction of The Junto Hotel. If you’ve ever seen photos of the Santa Monica Proper Hotel in California (designed by the one and only Kelly Wearstler), The Junto evokes similar luxe. The minute you step foot into the lobby at The Junto, you might as well have stepped into New York City or Los Angeles.

The Junto almost serves as a reminder that Columbus can truly deliver. The best part is, you don’t even have to leave the hotel. There’s a stunning cafe on the ground floor called Maudine’s where you can order your morning caffeine fix, breakfast, and pastries. Sit out on the patio or relax inside the black and white-tiled cafe while sipping on a warm drink. For lunch, dine at the cozy Little West Tavern and enjoy robust western dishes. For drinks, head up to The Brass Eye on the rooftop and watch the sun go down over the Columbus skyline.

If your desire is to venture beyond the walls of The Junto, COSI – The Center of Science & Industry is just across the street. Grab a beer at Land Grant Brewing Company, and head over to the German Village to stroll around the historic, brick-lines streets. If you decide to spend a good amount of time in the German Village, grab some fudge and candies at the iconic Schmidt’s Fudge Haus. If you still have a sweet tooth after the fudge, order a cream puff from Schmidt’s Sausage Haus which is just a 30 second walk away. From there, you can head to the Wagner-Hagans Auto Museum if you happen to be a lover of classic cars.

Load up on some local foods at The North Market, and take your findings to Bicentennial Park at the Scioto Mile. Take a slow stroll along the Scioto River, or even rent kayaks with Paddle In the City to see Columbus from a different perspective.

If you’re in the mood to do some shopping (or if your wallet can take it), visit Easton Town Center. Dine, purchase a new wardrobe, watch a movie at AMC DINE-IN Easton Town Center, try an escape room, or just enjoy the beauty of it all.

Columbus has so much to offer, and it is 100% worthy of making an incredibly relaxing and exhilarating staycation.
