Instead, the building — a historic landmark — is undergoing necessary renovations due to damage sustained in the accident that affected the front structure and entrance. The building’s historic status supremely complicates the process, requiring a mountain of permits and approvals before construction can move forward.
What’s Next for Char Bar?
The main obstacle is creating a new front entrance that is both structurally sound and up to code. While this gets sorted, the plan is to reopen with foot traffic redirected to a side entrance. Construction will be ongoing, with the front facade sealed off to allow patrons to safely enjoy the bar while the work is completed.
