Katalina’s, the iconic breakfast joint known for their Pancake Balls (aka the best invention of all time) is opening a new location in Bexley, and the opening date is imminent.
This news comes after Katalina’s, Too! was featured on Diner’s, Drive-Ins, and Dives, hosted by the honorable mayor of Flavortown and the pride of Columbus, Guy Fieri.
Katalina’s Tres is opened its doors on November 1st, but before we all storm their new location with a lust for pancake balls, let’s take a step back and talk about how we got here in the first place…
Katalina’s History
The original Katalina’s opened over a decade ago in the Columbus neighborhood of Harrison West, just a short drive up Neil Avenue from downtown. Since then, Katalina’s has made quite the splash for us brunch fiends and foodies. They have sold over 1 million pancake balls since their inception, and by the looks of it, that number is only going to grow exponentially after opening their second location in Clintonville a few years ago and a third location on the way.
Appearance on Triple-D
Earlier this year, Guy Fieri made his way to Central Ohio as he opened a new restaurant, Guy Fieri’s Trattoria, at Eldorado Scioto Downs. But he certainly wasn’t slacking on his trip, as he secretly took his camera crew to several locations around the city including Joya’s, King Gyros Greek Restaurant in Whitehall, and, of course, Katalina’s.
He made sure to note the unique menu, which blends cuisine influences from all sorts of cultures, with a heavy feature of southern and Latin American styles. But what got the most love, as it has since Katalina’s inception in 2011, were the Pancake Balls. There’s no denying these things are of divine origin. The exterior of the Balls have that familiar light crispness of a good pancake, while the inside is airy, gooey, and filled with your choice of Nutella, dulce de leche, or their homemade pumpkin apple butter.
Why You Should Care
Honestly, after reading the past few paragraphs, if you aren’t drooling on your keyboard or on your phone, please admit yourself to the hospital because obviously your taste buds or appetite are out of whack. But, in all seriousness, if you still need some convincing, take it from us. You really can’t go wrong with their food. Their menu is full of incredible concoctions like breakfast tacos, breakfast sammies, salads, and so much more.
I love the Pancake Balls and get them every time I go, yet somehow I like their slow-roasted pork and egg sandwich more. That is saying something, because their Pancake Balls are the sh*t!
