Billy Peake – Manic Waves LP Release show with Holiday Lions & Nervous Verbs

From 1999 to 2019, Billy Peake was a constant creative presence in the Columbus music scene—first with regional touring and recording juggernaut Miranda Sound, then with power pop stalwarts Bicentennial Bear.

Now Peake ventures into solo territory with Manic Waves—an album that started as a 2019 recording experiment but evolved during COVID into a full blown album. Manic Waves includes notable guest contributions from drummers Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley, St. Vincent), Stephen Bidwell (Black Pumas), and longtime collaborator Jason Mowery (Denovo, Bicentennial Bear), as well as vocals from Extra Special (Belle Mare, Meena).

The result blends familiar and new territory. While some tracks feature Peake’s signature overdriven guitars and distinctive vocals, others venture into synthesizer-driven New Wave inspired by The Cars, Human League, and Blondie.

Manic Waves was mixed and co-produced by Mike Montgomery (The Breeders, Superchunk, Protomartyr) and mastered by Sarah Register (Kim Gordon, David Bowie).

For the release celebration, Peake reunites with trusted Bicentennial Bear collaborators: Mowery on drums, Adam Dowell (bass), and Leah Wahlin (keyboards/vocals), plus Brian Hake (Kopaz) on guitar and Brandon Barnes on trumpet.

Opening acts include Holiday Lions (Hake and Mowery’s new project with Pretty Mighty Mighty and Miranda Sound alumni) and Nervous Verbs (Montgomery’s solo project on Don Giovanni Records).

Food & Bar: Our Full food and bar menus will be available for purchase before and during the show. If you would like to eat before the show, we encourage you to make a dinner reservation by going to Resy.
