Learn basic hand building and wheel throwing techniques and use various tools. Fran Ryan Center currently has 8 wheels so there is no guarantee that everyone will have a wheel, there will be a sign-up sheet available for the wheel each week.
Participants will learn about various types of clay, its working properties, and have the opportunity to try various hand building and pottery wheel techniques. Pieces will be fired and glazed. Participants are encouraged to provide their own apron, and towel for clean up.
Participants will purchase their own clay at the front desk. Glazes are provided. Classes are for practicing techniques and working on projects, production work is not permitted, due to the popularity of classes, limited storage and kiln space.
