Based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory brings the magical world of Willy Wonka to the stage in a whimsical, music-filled adventure.
With a book by David Greig, and music by Marc Shaiman with lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, the musical follows young Charlie Bucket as he discovers one of five rare golden tickets granting entry into Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory. Inside, Charlie and the other lucky winners encounter a world of pure imagination—complete with chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels, the great glass elevator, and the ever-curious Oompa-Loompas—on a journey that becomes as life-changing as it is fantastical.
This production is a collaboration from the ABC Players/Nelsonville-York Drama Club team that brought us Matilda, School of Rock, Wizard of Oz, and Freaky Friday.
