The Soul Sunday Series hosted by Debra James Tucker continues with Harmonic Soul Band featuring Maverick & Son. Harmonic Soul Band is an award winning dynamic collective blending funk, soul, R&B, and hip-hop into one electrifying live experience. Known for their smooth grooves, tight musicianship, and high-energy performances, the band embodies the spirit of Ohio’s rich musical legacy bringing raw emotion, rhythm, and harmony to every stage. Harmonic Soul Band opened up for national artist such Boyz II Men, PJ Morton and Pleasure P. In September 2025, they released their first live album with Greg Owens “Harmonic Soul” Live From Rehearsal”.
Marquisa (Monique) Mitchell or “Maverick” is an accomplished Background Singer and Vocal Coach, born and raised in Gary, Indiana, with over 39 years’ experience of live performing and session singing. Her commanding, soulful vocals along with the uncanny ability to mimic, makes her a versatile songstress, able to adapt to any genre and project.
The unique sound of vocalist Debra James Tucker is a product of extensive training in jazz, classical and gospel music. Her new album is “Voices”, which continues her exploration of early black church forms in contemporary contexts. She is the writer/performer of the one woman show Survival of the Boulevard Singer-winner of an Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence, has been a visiting instructor at Denison University in the history of African American Gospel Music, and an artist in residence with several youth arts organizations.
