Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the season and enjoy a cozy evening at Holiday Histories. Wander the museum at your own pace, connect with friends and family and explore holiday traditions from around the world, both past and present.

Enjoy hands-on crafts and community partners sharing traditions, listen to a roving barbershop quartet fill the galleries with festive music and browse unique gifts from local vendors and the Ohio History Store. No crowded malls required.

Activities and stations include:

  • Moon Festival Celebration, where guests can learn about Mid-Autumn Festival and make a Play-Doh mooncake
  • Twelfth Night & Winter Tidings, where guests can explore evergreens, early Christmas trees and learn about preparing for winter in early America
  • Home Away from the Homefront, where guests will learn how some American soldiers spent the holidays overseas during World War I and other conflicts through letters, photos and artifacts
  • 1950s Holidays, where guests can experience mid-century Christmas traditions in the Lustron Home inside the museum
  • Ice, Ice Baby! Ice Age Mammals, where guests can explore fossils and learn about the megafauna (large animals) that roamed across Ohio thousands of years ago
  • Ohio Toy History, where guests can experience and reminisce about well-known Ohio-made toys, including Ohio History Connection collections items from the Ohio Art Company, Kenner and Little Tikes
  • Little Holiday Vendor Market, where guests can complete their holiday shopping list with help from vendors including Igloo Letterpress, Robin Schuricht Art and El Mercadito. The Ohio History Connection gift shop also will be open during this event.
