In a career that has already spanned a half-century, Kaukonen has been one of the most highly respected interpreters of American roots music, blues, and Americana, and at the forefront of popular rock-and-roll. A member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a Grammy nominee, he is a founding member of two legendary bands, Jefferson Airplane and the still-touring Hot Tuna. Jorma Kaukonen’s repertoire goes far beyond his involvement in creating psychedelic rock; he is a music legend and one of the finest singer-songwriters in music.
Jorma’s good friend and fellow musician, John Hurlbut, is joining him towards the end of his set as they both are celebrating milestone birthdays. “I get to sit back and play as an accompanist with no responsibility other than to decorate his moves. I have known John for more than forty years. We have been friends for a long, long time. We’ve messed around musically together over the decades, but during Covid, when we (and everyone else) had nothing else to do except try to figure out the vacuum, we decided to sit down and play seriously together. What came of that were three fabulous albums on the Culture Factory label. We’re still doing it.”
