80th ANNIVERSARY!
Featuring Judy Garland, Margaret O’Brien, Mary Astor
Based on author Sally Benson’s childhood, Meet Me in St. Louis follows the Smith family as they experience young love and bittersweet memories as their beloved hometown readies itself to host the 1904 World’s Fair. Garland, the second-oldest daughter of Lon and Anna, has fallen in love with the boy next door, only to find that with her father’s promotion, a move to New York City may stop the romance before it starts. Also struggling with the looming move is young Tootie, played so well by Margaret O’Brien that she was awarded a special Oscar for Outstanding Child Actress. Peppered with beloved standards like “Meet Me in St. Louis,” “The Trolley Song,” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” this MGM classic is as beloved today as it was 80 years ago.
