The one word the exemplifies the music performances of ‘The Governor’ is diversity. Starting with being classically trained at Capital University playing timpani in the orchestra and the wind ensemble to playing in the jazz lab band. Valuable experience in leading music groups was obtained being the band director at Central High School (now COSI). Jazz being the primary music exposure lead to stints with organ greats Hank Marr, Bobby Pierce and Bobby Floyd. Playing extensive music styles was required to go on the road across the country playing top 40, reggae, and a jazz trio. This experience was put to the ultimate text playing drums in the show band for Carnival cruise line. Not only was it necessary to read big band charts for the production shows but also to back up the Motown singer and a Mexican juggler. Expanded percussion skills created to the opportunity to play bongos for Lil’ Red and the Rooster on their new album. It’s a proven fact that a Governor show will cross all of these musical styles and more!
