Perhaps the most famous of Columbus’ neighborhoods, German Village is always at the top of everybody’s lists of places to visit. And rightfully so, because German Village is a cozy neighborhood with brick houses, delicious restaurants, brick-lined streets, and adorable parks located just a stone’s throw from downtown.

Honestly, even just a stroll around German Village is fun, as you’ll get to discover so many unique feats of architecture, cool Mom and Pop shops, and the friendly people that call that neighborhood home.

That being said, if you’re looking for a little bit of guidance on where to go and what to eat, we’ve got you covered with this perfect German Village itinerary.

If you haven’t checked out our first installment of this German Village series, you can check that out here!

German Village Coffee Shop

193 Thurman Ave #2629, Columbus, OH 43206

Since 1981, the German Village Coffee Shop has been a Thurman Avenue staple, serving up vintage vibes and delicious eats for over 40 years. This charming diner is famous for its strong house coffee, legendary Western Omelet, and club sandwich. Packed every weekend, it’s the place to be for breakfast, lunch, and a dash of nostalgia. It has the same vibe as a diner you’d stumble upon while wandering New York City. Come for the retro charm, stay for the mouthwatering daily specials!

The Brown Bag Deli

898 Mohawk St, Columbus, OH 43206

If I could eat anywhere for free for the rest of my life and I had to choose between the world’s best steakhouse or The Brown Bag Deli, I’m picking Brown Bag every day of the week. Their incredible sandwiches and homemade sides are so fresh and so delicious, which is why it’s no surprise that they were named the best hole-in-the-wall restaurant in the entire state.

Frank Fetch Park

228 E Beck St, Columbus, OH 43206

Frank Fetch Park is a 0.2-acre gem that is the epitome of adorable. Established in 1966, this “bier garten”-style park features brick walkways, decorative gas lights, and lush landscaping that’s hand-tended with love. With picnic tables, benches, and even a pergola for shaded relaxation, it’s a cozy spot perfect for a stroll, a picnic, or just soaking in the vintage charm. The Friends of Frank Fetch Park keep it immaculate, making it a delightful haven for both two- and four-legged visitors.

Club 185

185 E Livingston Ave, Columbus, OH 43215

Club 185, nestled in German Village since 1954, is the neighborhood bar with a past as colorful as its cocktails. Once a local speakeasy, it now serves up quality casual comfort food and a full bar to an eclectic mix of patrons—politicians, lawyers, hardhats, and hipsters alike. Whether you’re taming your hunger or quenching your thirst, Club 185 is the perfect spot to do it in style!

Lindey’s

169 E Beck St, Columbus, OH 43206

Lindey’s has been a German Village gem since 1981. Founded by Sue Doody, a Columbus legend with a passion for people and genuine hospitality, turned Lindery’s into a Columbus dining landmark despite no professional training. Known for its top-notch menu and warm atmosphere, Lindey’s has stayed in Columbus’ Top 10 Restaurants for over four decades. Today, Sue’s legacy continues through her sons, making every visit a delightful experience. There’s a reason why Lindey’s is one of the most sought after dining experiences in the city, but you gotta see it to believe it.
