If you’ve lived in Columbus for more than five minutes, you’ve probably heard of (or devoured) something from Resch’s Bakery. This family-owned staple has been keeping Central Ohio sugared up since 1912 with its donuts, paczki (Polish donuts that are dense and filled with fruit preserves), cookies, cakes, pies, and pastries that could make even the most dedicated keto-dieter question their life choices.
So here’s the unexpected news that we weren’t quite ready for: after 113 years of serving baked goods in Columbus, Resch’s Bakery is moving out of its iconic Livingston Avenue shop and relocating to a brand-new bakery in Gahanna.
Goodbye, Livingston. Hello, Gahanna.
When Resch’s first announced a second location last year, we all cheered. TWO Resch’s?! More donuts? More pastries? More excuses to say, “Well, I was in the area so I got a couple dozen…”? Count us in.
But then came yesterday’s announcement: the new Gahanna location at 150 N. Hamilton Road won’t just be a sibling. It’s taking over the whole operation. That means the historic Livingston Avenue location — home since the 1960s, with its wonderful glowing neon sign and charming wood pastry cases — will be closing for good.
Pardon me while I weep.
The Livingston spot isn’t just a bakery. It’s a time capsule. It’s where birthday cakes, wedding desserts, and Sunday morning donuts became traditions for generations of Columbus families. And while the move makes sense (the Gahanna shop will also serve as the new production hub… a.k.a. a bigger and better menu), saying goodbye to a place with this much character feels like losing a little piece of the city.

The New Spot
While we don’t have an official opening date yet, Resch’s Bakery Gahanna is close. Their Facebook page recently shared that final inspections are underway, and once those pass, the doors will open. Expect all the fan favorites plus some new additions tailored to the Gahanna neighborhood.
Translation: the donut floodgates are about to open. Prepare your blood sugar monitors, because it’s gonna be sweet.

Here’s to 113 Years of Sweet Memories
Six generations of the Resch family have kept this bakery alive and thriving.
That doesn’t happen by accident.
It happens because they know exactly what they’re doing. So while we’re a little crushed to lose Livingston, the very street they’ve called home for over a century, we’re also excited to see Resch’s continue to grow and thrive in their new space.
So here’s the deal: if you’re sentimental about that neon sign or the pastry cases with decades of fingerprints, you’ve got one last chance to swing by before they close. Order a box of glazed donuts, grab a cake, maybe even shed a little powdered-sugar-covered tear.
Because soon, all roads to Resch’s lead to Gahanna.
