There are two kinds of strip-mall restaurants: the ones you forget immediately, and the ones that serve cheesecake in a deep fried tortilla topped with chocolate, whipped cream, and cinnamon sugar. Las Margaritas is the latter.
With locations in Westerville and Canal Winchester, this Mexican-inspired cantina proves that great margaritas and crave-worthy comfort food aren’t limited by a zip code. The Westerville spot is tucked along N. State Street in the Northridge Crossing strip mall, while their Canal Winchester location brings the same lively energy (and dangerous marg lineup) to the southeast side. No matter which one you hit, you’re in for the full experience. This Mexican-inspired cantina is equal parts family-friendly and margarita mecca.
Margarita lover? Welcome Home.
There’s a reason this classic Mexican drink is their namesake: their margaritas go hard. There’s a traditional fresh-squeezed margarita (tart, refreshing, and made with freshly squeezed lime juice and agave nectar), plus a whole lineup of flavored options. In the past, they’ve been known to offer margarita flights where you can mix and match flavors like lime, raspberry, strawberry, watermelon, and prickly pear to name a few — and yes, you’ll find the same strong pours and seasonal specials at both locations.
If you’re a seasoned marg vet, you might want to go for ”the millionaire,” a strong and smooth combination of 1800 Reposado, Patrón Citrónge, Grand Muriel, lime juice, and sweet & sour. If you’re adventurous, you could go for their rotating monthly marg that celebrates the flavors of the season. Right now, it includes freshly squeezed Blood Orange.
Save Room for Xango (You Probably Won’t, But You Should Try)
Food-wise, you’ve got all the classics, including fajitas served on a sizzling skillet with veggies, and tacos, burritos, and enchiladas galore. But don’t sleep on the fan-favorite extras like their guacamole that’s prepared fresh daily (and served with warm tortilla chips), or the Spicy Pollo Verde Bake with jalapeño, black bean and corn salsa, verde sauce, and cheese-covered tortilla chips. And if you’re in your birria era, fear not. Both the Westerville and Canal Winchester locations are now serving birria dishes, including Quesabirria and Tacos Birria.
Plus, all their food is served up with generous portion sizes and unlimited chips and salsa with every meal. So if you’ve got a teenaged son with an endless void for a stomach, or you’ve just got a bad case of the munchies, this is your spot. Speaking of which, that dessert we mentioned at the top, the cheesecake confection, is called Xango. You can thank us later.
It doesn’t hurt that they’re menu is easy on the wallet too… especially if you catch them for happy hour which runs daily between 2–6 pm, and includes margarita, beer specials and select appetizer specials. Lunch is a similar story, with specials and fan favorites listed at a serious discount. Oh, and did we mention that kids eat free on Mondays? No? Well, kids eat free on Mondays (one free kid’s meal with each adult entrée and drink purchase). Loco, right?
The Vibe
Inside Las Margaritas it’s lively, colorful, and comfortable. Think warm tones, festive touches, and the kind of energy that makes you order an appetizer simply because the table feels incomplete without it.
One more fun wildcard: some guests have described the occasional roaming, live entertainment vibe, like a musician popping into the dining room and turning dinner into a mini celebration.
Get Your Marg On
Whether you’re rolling through Westerville or Canal Winchester, reward yourself for surviving another week of Ohio winter. Hit happy hour, order a margarita (or three), grab some tacos, and do not leave without trying the Xango.
