
Over the past 4 years, Americans have been on the move. Once fast-growing coastal cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles are seeing people fleeing inland for more affordable, yet equally lively cities such as Austin, Texas and, you guessed it, Columbus, Ohio.
A recent study by the Bank of America Institute showed that Columbus and Austin are tied for first for the largest year-over-year population growth between 2022 and 2023, sitting at over 1% growth.
But why Columbus? The high cost of living in coastal cities and the lack of affordable housing is pushing people to the south and midwest. So, cities with great people, art, culture, and a relatively low cost of living (i.e. Columbus and Austin) are seeing major booms to their populations.
