Delaware County EMS is the primary emergency medical provider for the residents of Delaware County
As the main provider of emergency medical services (EMS) in Delaware County, our primary role is to provide emergency response services for 911 calls and we do not do scheduled transports. Our service area covers 459 square miles and our crews respond to over 7,000 calls annually. We aim to provide service within 4 to 8 minutes of any call for assistance.
DCEMS employs over 120 full-time employees and approximately 10 part-time staff. We deliver this service with 11 Advanced Life Support (ALS) transport ambulances and 2 Quick-Response Captain’s vehicles. Our stations are strategically located throughout the county to ensure quick response times.
Our shifts are structured into three 24-hour shifts which includes two Captains responsible for all daily operations and one Lieutenant for each of the 11 ALS crews, providing operational and clinical oversight at emergency scenes.
Our leadership structure includes:
-
- Chief:Â Executive Officer of the department.
- Assistant Chiefs:Â Two, assisting the Chief in operations.
- Captains:Â Eight, with six overseeing daily operations as field supervisors, and two focused on training and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).
- Coordinators: Three, overseeing fiscal management, logistics, compliance, HIPAA, and external training
DCEMS is proud to collaborate with all fire and law enforcement agencies in Delaware County to ensure timely and quality care. DCEMS is also a hub for training and education for lay-persons, law enforcement and fellow EMS providers within the county and beyond.
