Curator Zachary Distel will present on the Fort Recovery Historical Society’s large collection of Charleville musket parts retrieved from the surrounding battlefield.
Distel is the Curator and Director of Collections at the Sons of the American Revolution in Louisville Kentucky.

There will be guided Battlefield tours at Noon and 2:30 p.m. Charleville presentations are at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Event included with museum admission.

CHARLEVILLE MUSKET

The Charleville musket was a .69 caliber French infantry musket used in both St. Clair’s Defeat and the Battle of Fort Recovery by U.S. troops. The Fort Recovery Museum has a large collection of Charleville musket parts from the battles, which Distel has reviewed and researched.

ZACHARY DISTEL

Distel is the Curator & Director of Collections at the Sons of the American Revolution in Louisville, Kentucky. He is responsible for objects and collections that will be housed in the new SAR Education Center and Museum that will open in downtown Louisville later in 2026. Distel is also a Board Member and Secretary for the Kentucky Museum & Heritage Alliance, where he created the KMHA Mentorship Program. He received his MA in Curatorial Studies and MPA in Nonprofit Studies from the University of Louisville.
