Why CAPA’s Summer Movie Series is Worth It
Affordable Movie Nights
Let’s talk value: single tickets are just $6, with seniors paying $5. For the true cinephiles, a 10-pack of tickets is available for $40, usable for any film in any combination. Tickets can be purchased in-person at the CAPA Ticket Center (39 E. State St.), online at capa.com, or by phone at (614) 469-0939.
More Than Just Movies
Each screening is preceded by a live performance from Clark Wilson on the Ohio Theatre’s “Mighty Morton” organ, adding a nostalgic touch to your movie night. The theater itself, a 1928 Spanish Baroque masterpiece, offers an ambiance that modern cinemas can’t match. Bonus points if you can spot the 21 foot tall chandelier (you won’t be able to miss it. It’s MASSIVE)!
What’s really cool is that they also tend to do fun little surprises to match the vibe of the movies. For example, when I saw the screening of The Big Lebowski, they had Caucasians (aka The Dude’s name for a White Russian) at the concessions. No, they didn’t stir them with their fingers.
(But that doesn’t mean I didn’t).
Fun Fact: The Ohio Theatre was originally opened as a move theatre, which makes the Summer Movie series all the more special, as we are honoring its history!
