Here in Central Ohio, it feels like the emergence of Pączki (pronounced POONCH-key) is equally as rare as the emergence of Cicadas. Since Pączki are so rare (and yet so delicious), we are making sure all Step Out Columbus readers know where and when to grab their tasty treats before they’re all gone.
What are Pączki? They are a Polish dessert that are similar to doughnuts and are filled with a variety of fruit or cream. The difference between doughnuts and Pączki is that, aside from Pączki being way better, the dough is especially rich thanks to Polish baking traditions. They are only around once per year around Fat Tuesday, making them a truly rare find.
We know you’re itching to get your hands on some, so without any further ado, here are the best places to get Pączki in Central Ohio!
Just a heads up: If you see me on Ash Wednesday crying, it’s because I have eaten my last Pączki and I am really, really sad about it. If you have a Pączki to spare, it would be wise to give me one.

Lizz of Sweet CLE-‘bus was born and raised in Slavic Village in Cleveland, which allowed her to fully embrace her Polish culture. This results in absolutely unbelievable pierogi and, only for a limited time around Fat Tuesday, truly incredible Pączki. Stay tuned to her Instagram for her official Pączki announcement. Resch’s Bakery

Resch’s doesn’t take Fat Tuesday lightly. This century old bakery has Mardi Gras down to a science, so you better follow their rules if you want their incredible Pączki. They will sell out, so make sure you get your order placed ASAP! Via their website:

Buckeye Donuts is not only known as the open-24-hours, gyro-serving, donut-master, heartbeat-of-Ohio-State donut shop. It’s also known as the home to some of the best Pączki money can buy. They are only available on Monday, 2/12 and Tuesday, 2/13 and are currently accepting preorders, so you better act fast!

This pre-order only donut shop has been making quite the splash in Columbus’ donut aficionado community. It only helps that their Pączki are also absolutely incredible. This year, they are offering 4 different flavors for you to try, and pre-orders are currently open on their website.
