If you’ve spent any time in the Short North, you know Forno as the go-to spot for wood-fired pizzas, one of the best happy hours in the city, weekend brunches, and cocktails that hit the spot every single time. But here’s the twist you might not know: there’s a brand-new speakeasy tucked underneath Forno, and it’s about to become your new favorite hideaway.

Welcome to The Marmont

Down into the basement under Forno you’ll find yourself inside The Marmont, a sultry, dimly lit speakeasy inspired by the infamous Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. The vibe? Think old-school glamor meets Columbus cool. Low lighting, plush seating, and just enough mystery to make you feel like you’re in on a secret the rest of the city hasn’t caught onto yet.

This isn’t just a “secret bar for the sake of being a secret bar.” The Marmont leans into its inspiration, paying homage to the hotel where whispered scandals and legendary Hollywood nights have been the norm for decades. It’s got that same air of exclusivity, but lucky for us, you don’t need an A-list résumé to get in.

The Drinks: Classic with a Twist

Of course, a speakeasy is only as good as its cocktails, and Marmont delivers. The menu features riffs on the classics, so whether you’re a martini loyalist or an old fashioned aficionado, there’s something on the list for you.

Each drink is meticulously crafted (translation: these aren’t your vodka-cranberry days), but the menu isn’t so intimidating that you’ll feel out of your depth. It’s approachable, elegant, and oozes cool.

Plus, you can order pizzas and small bits from Forno upstairs, which feels like a no brainer (because it is).

Reservations Are Recommended

Since this is one of Columbus’ newest speakeasies, it’s sort of a hot ticket. Reservations are recommended if you want to guarantee your spot in the hidden bar, though part of the fun is the sense that you’re slipping away from the noise of the Short North into something more private.

Reservations can be made here.

Why You Need to Check Out The Marmont

Columbus has been upping its cocktail game for years, but the Marmont brings a fresh, cinematic edge to the scene. It’s the kind of place where you can impress a date, sip cocktails with friends, or just escape into a moody little pocket of the city.

If you’ve ever wanted to feel like you’re part of a story unfolding in the background of a glamorous Hollywood night, this is your chance, no plane ticket required.
