Now that Thanksgiving has been crossed off the list, most of us have packed up the pumpkins and are in full Christmas-mode. This means that our moms’ “harvest” signs have now been properly stored away and appropriately replaced with some variation of the words, “noel” or “joy.” Storefronts are adorned with garlands, streets are lined with sting lights and snowflakes, restaurants are whipping out their best holiday cocktails, and coffeeshops have officially reintroduced the seasonal flavors of peppermint and gingerbread.
Needless to say, it truly is the most wonderful time of the year… to be in love – that is. Christmas family time, shopping, decorating, music, and cooking are all sort of in one beautiful holiday category, but holidates are almost the cherry on top. There are few places that are as iconic as Katzinger’s Deli and we felt it necessary to start off this Holidate with a real zinger. Stop number one is crucial to help you and your snow angel fuel up for your day of winter fun. We highly suggest ordering the Katzinger’s Reuben sandwich, but if you’re not into corned beef and sauerkraut, you may wanna try the “Be’s Bustling Birdwich” which is amongst the 5 top-selling food items. You can also go the breakfast route, if that’s the move for the day!
The Book Loft

Now that you’re full on a banger of a breakfast, make your way to another German Village icon – The Book Loft. Peruse around the narrow hallways, take in their lovely Christmas decor, pick out a Christmassy book to cozy up with later, and steel a kiss or two.
Fox in The Snow

Yes, we know – we talk about Fox in The Snow a lot. They just really know how to get us Columbus folk excited, okay? Fox in The Snow has just reintroduced a fan favorite; the massive peppermint marshmallows. For the first time in Fox history, you can snag a killer peppermint mocha as well! Go get that pillow of a marshmallow! It’s a real Christmas miracle.
Land-Grant Brewing

Boy oh boy, the amount of winter fun that Land-Grant Brewing’s got goin’ this season is simply insane. We’re talkin’ ice bumper cars, space-heated igloos, and curling lanes for some healthy competition. Try out their “Tree Lot” beer as well to really full-send into the Holiday spirit. By the way, dogs are welcome on this part of the date!
Carriage Rides at Easton

We really want this date to shine, so why not mimic the feeling of flying high in Santa’s sleigh? Head to Easton and hop into a horse-drawn carriage with your winter love. Take in all the sights of Easton’s decor and light displays this time of year and consider locating some mistletoe ahead of time for a fun surprise 😉
WILDLIGHTS at Columbus Zoo and Aquarium

We couldn’t let you walk away from this holidate without suggesting you go see some gorgeous Christmas lights; or should we say, WILDLIGHTS. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium goes absolutely wild for the holidays with their light display of all light displays. The entire zoo is illuminated with pops of color and millions of lights that are synced with classic Christmas songs. It’s a real treat!
