Coffee is great. Coffee that comes with its own rain cloud? That’s a whole different level of caffeine experience.

And yes… this is a real thing you can try in Columbus, Ohio.

At Bottoms Up Coffee, a hip little coffee shop that clearly decided the normal coffee rules were optional, you can order a drink called the Rainy Day Coffee. It’s served with a floating cloud that literally rains sweetness into your cup.

That’s not a figure of speech.

The Coffee with a Side of Sugary Rain

The first thing you’ll notice is the cloud.

Suspended above your cup is what looks like a tiny storm system hovering over your coffee. It’s made of cotton candy, and it slowly dissolves as the steam from the coffee rises up toward it.

Sound familiar?

That’s because it’s basically a miniature water cycle experiment, the kind you probably learned about in elementary school. You know the song…

Evaporation, condensation, precipitaaaaaation on my head… 🎶

The steam melts the cotton candy cloud, which slowly drips down into the cup, naturally sweetening the drink as it dissolves. In other words, the coffee literally makes it rain sugar into itself, which somehow doesn’t violate the laws of thermodynamics!

It’s part science experiment, part coffee drink, and completely unforgettable. And yes, watching it happen is half the fun.

Bottoms Up Coffee Definitely Doesn’t Follow the Rules

If the Rainy Day Coffee tells you anything, it’s that Bottoms Up Coffee doesn’t take the traditional coffee shop approach.

Instead of just sticking to standard lattes and cappuccinos, they lean into creativity and playful drinks that feel more like experiences than just a caffeine fix. And the Rainy Day Coffee is just the beginning.

The Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte Is Ridiculously Good

Normally, I’m not someone who orders super sweet coffees. Give me a latte or an iced Americano with a splash of cream and I’m usually happy.

But the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte here completely wrecked that rule. It tastes exactly like the milk left at the bottom of a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Warm, cinnamon-y, sweet, and dangerously drinkable.

And yes, I finished the entire thing.

The Lucky Charms Latte (Yes, Really)

Bottoms Up also rotates fun seasonal drinks, including things like a Lucky Charms Latte around St. Patrick’s Day. Think marshmallow sweetness mixed into a creamy coffee drink that tastes like breakfast cereal nostalgia in a cup.

Between the Rainy Day Coffee and the cereal-inspired lattes, it’s safe to say this place knows how to have a little fun with coffee.

Yes, I Drank BOTH of Them. They’re That Good.

On my visit, I couldn’t help but drink both the Rainy Day Coffee and the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte.

Was that a responsible decision? Absolutely not. But between the sugar rush and the caffeine boost, I was more productive that afternoon than I probably would have been if I’d taken my ADHD medication.

So I’m calling it a win.

Bottoms Up Coffee Is One of the Most Memorable Coffee Shops in Columbus

Columbus has plenty of great coffee shops.

But very few of them serve drinks that literally rain sugar into your coffee from a floating cloud.

If you’re looking for something a little different from your usual latte routine, the Rainy Day Coffee at Bottoms Up Coffee is easily one of the most unique coffee drinks you’ll find anywhere in the city.

And if you go, do yourself a favor.

Bring a friend with a sweet tooth.

Because this is the kind of coffee you’ll absolutely want to show someone.
