Is there anything quite as satisfying as fresh and authentic Mediterranean food? Heck, there’s even a diet named after Mediterranean food because it’s so delicious and good for you. I’ve never been much of a dieter, but if it means I can eat all I want at Mazah Mediterranean Eatery, then I’ll happily diet!

How fresh is Mazah’s food? Well, the first words you read when you go to their website are “we make it on the spot!” So, pretty darn fresh! And the authenticity is equally impressive, as this restaurant has been family-run since it opened in 2009 with the goal of serving up their family’s favorite dishes inspired by their Teta’s and Sitti’s (Lebanese for Grandmother).

While we love everything on their menu (seriously… we’re not just saying that), here are some of our favorites that are must-try’s!

Hummus or Baba Ghanoush

While they are quite similar in terms of looks and texture, the battle between Hummus and Baba Ghanoush has never been more heated. Mazah’s Hummus and Baba are some of the best I’ve ever had, yet I think I like their Baba Ghanoush more. This is in stark contrast to my boyfriend, who swears by the Hummus. I think the char-grilled eggplant makes it slightly creamier and smokier, which is what I prefer to pair with their house-made pita bread and the delicious Extra-Virgin Olive Oil.

Mediterranean Potato Salad

Just when I thought I couldn’t love potato salad any more, I tried Mazah’s potato salad. It blew all the other potato salads I held near and dear to my heart out of the water. The parsley, lemon juice, olive oil, and spices gave the redskin potatoes such an air of freshness that I was not expecting. I am now officially anti-mayo-based potato salad and staunchly pro-Mazah-fresh-and-delicious potato salad ’til death do us part.

Shish Tawook

Now we enter entrée world, and there’s no better representative of their delicious cuisine than the Shish Tawook. Firstly, I contend that expertly-cooked chicken is up there with the best food around, and Mazah certainly has some experts in that kitchen. Aside from how well it’s cooked, the chicken is marinated in a garlic lemon marinade before being skewered and grilled alongside various veggies. Plus, if the garlic lemon marinade isn’t enough garlic for ya (for me, there’s no such thing as enough garlic), it comes with a side of their homemade garlic sauce. Good luck to any vampire who tries to come anywhere near you.

Last, but certainly not least, Baklava

This traditional Middle-Eastern dessert is like biting into pure joy and deliciousness. The sweetness… the crunch… the nuttiness! I’m begging you for your own sake, get some for dessert. You won’t regret it.

So there you go, now you know where you should be going for dinner multiple times per month. Enjoy!
