Fall is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful times of year with its vibrant, warm colors dispersed amongst the trees. The leaves shift from bright green to the most sharp red and orange. The leaves themselves are a sight to behold and that is why we made a list of some of the best locations in Central Ohio to feel immersed in all the fall colors!
Bring a light jacket, a hot drink, and get ready to witness this season’s stunning scenery!
Remember to leave no trace and be sure to follow posted signage! Check with all of these locations to determine which are pet-friendly 🙂
The Scioto Mile
233 S Civic Center Dr, Columbus, OH 43215
The Scioto Mile is a beautiful spot year round, but fall is our favorite time of year to take a stroll. If we were to describe it, it’s like fall in the city as opposed to taking a walk out in nature somewhere – but is still worth mentioning. Grab a cup of coffee (probably a pumpkin spice latte) from a nearby coffee shop and take it on a scenic walk along the Scioto River.

Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park
1775 Darby Creek Dr, Galloway, OH 43119
Batelle Darby Creek stretches over both Big and Little Darby Creek and has some stunning trails for walking and biking, as well as designated areas for your four-legged buddies. Whip out those sweaters (both human and dog-sized) and enjoy a beautiful walk on the trails.

Blendon Woods Metro Park
4265 E Dublin Granville Rd, Columbus, OH 43230
To feel surrounded by colorful forestry and the warm colors of the season, plan a trip to Blendon Woods Metro Park. Get a good look at the beech-maple and oak-hickory trees from one of their many trails like Sugarbush, Goldenrod, Ripple Rock and more.

Hayden Run Falls
4460 Hayden Run Rd, Columbus, OH 43221
For a magical fall experience, make your way to Hayden Run Falls. Take scenic walk on the boardwalk to an overlook which is surrounded by colorful forestry. After about 15-20 minutes of walking, you’ll have arrived at the waterfall! It’s not the biggest waterfall you’ll ever see, but it’s still visually breathtaking. Upon arrival, look for a sign that says, “Griggs Nature Preserve,” for parking!
High Banks Metro Park
9466 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center, OH 43035
Hike through Dripping Rock Loop at High Banks Metro Park and walk across the picturesque bridge! Snag a photo with the bridge and brightly-colored trees as your backdrop – you won’t regret it.
