What’s better than a nice cup of Joe in the morning? Getting that cup of Joe at a coffee shop that exudes character and good vibrations, of course!
I’ve always felt that good coffee is just one half of the equation for a great coffee shop. The atmosphere and the energy inside the coffee shop is equally as important as the quality of the java.
If you are of the same belief or if you just want to find a cool little coffee shop, you have to check these places out.
Did we miss one? Did one of these places close? Send us a note!
1. Cafe De Nook
175 S 3rd St, Columbus, OH 43215
If I were to try to describe the vibe in Cafe De Nook, I’d say it’s like the awesome coffee shop your favorite sitcom characters hang out at that would never exist in real life because it’s too cool. Everything from the chandeliers to the black booths and mural on the wall somehow makes your coffee taste a little bit better.
2. Upper Cup Coffee Co.
79 Parsons Ave, Columbus, OH 43215
I have a theory that having exposed brick in your coffee shop is like a peacock showing its feathers. You have no choice but to feel the attraction. There’s also an old school bike that sits above the entrance that’s surrounded by plants, energizing you before you get a drop of caffeine in your bloodstream.
3. Parable Cafe
149 S High St, Columbus, OH 43215
Parable Cafe is THE place to be if you are someone who loves natural light (not the beer) and an outdoors-brought-inside type of vibe. The large ceiling to floor windows, that are well over 12 feet tall, allow for natural lighting to illuminate the entire cafe and give life to the plants and patrons that line this popular spot. Plants and light, baby. That’s all you really need.
4. Java Central Café and Roaster
20 S State St Suite B, Westerville, OH 43081
This quaint little coffee shop is tucked away inside a beautiful brick building. The inside is cute and cozy, but the real star of the show is the outdoor seating sections. This spot is perfect for a morning coffee, especially in the spring, summer, and fall months. Just think of how relaxing it would be to start your day with this view and a cup of java in your hand (see below).
5. The Coffee Vault
9 W Columbus St, Galena, OH 43021
Located in a beautiful brick Victorian-style building, The Coffee Vault is truly an aesthetic that can’t be matched. If you think I like exposed brick interiors, just wait til you hear what I have to say about The Coffee Vault’s exposed stone! The stone foundation basically throws you into a time machine to an era where spiral staircases, real wooden furniture, and leather seating were standard. It’s a vibe and you have to check it out for yourself.
6. Third Way Coffee House
3059 W Broad St, Columbus, OH 43204
Third Way Coffee House has just about everything you could possibly want in an aesthetic coffee shop. Great coffee, hardwood floors, exposed wooden support beams, exposed brick, lighting fixtures with Edison light bulbs, bookshelves, weird paintings… need I continue?
7. Stauf’s Coffee in Victorian Village
1334 Neil Ave, Columbus, OH 43201
If you’re even just a ~little bit~ of a coffee lover in Columbus, then you know Stauf’s. While all their locations serve incredible coffee in eclectic and unique spaces, none is more aesthetic and unique than the Stauf’s in Victorian Village. It’s inside of an old church, for Pete’s sake! Tall ceilings and stained glass windows cement this spot as one of the most interesting coffee shops in the city.
