A day on the lake and a lifetime of memories.

Alum Creek Lake is in Delaware County about 7 miles north of Columbus. The lake is paralleled by I-71 on the east, with SR 36/37 exit providing access. State Routes 521, 36/37, Cheshire Road, Hollenback Road, and Lewis Center Road provided access from SR 23 on the west side of the lake.

Alum Creek Lake was constructed by the Army Corps of Engineers in the early 1970’s. The lake was completed and filled by summer of 1976. At full pool, the lake is about 3,269 acres. Maximum depth is about 60 feet near the dam, with much of the water depths ranging from 20 to 40 feet. Deep wooded ravines, abandoned farm fields, and high shale bluffs make up the irregular shoreline.

The Division of parks and Recreation operates and maintains parking lots, boat ramps, boat docks, campgrounds, swimming beaches, picnic areas, and horseback riding and hiking trails. Campgrounds provide drinking water, flush toilets, shower facilities, trailer waste dump stations, and picnic tables.
There are no horsepower restrictions, however you are required to follow no wake rules in marked areas.

The high shale bluffs, three rock covered causeways, and deep coves with standing timber provide excellent fish habitat and fishing opportunities. Large-mouth Bass, Small-mouth Bass, Muskellunge, and Saugeye fishing is above average to excellent. Other species that are popular include Black and White Crappie, White Bass, and Channel Catfish.
