From the track record of Robert Balotsky’s work as Buku, it’s clear that the Pittsburgh native and graduate of Music Technology is a well-equipped architect of twisted, layered soundscapes. With a menacing grasp on sound design and music theory, Buku combines deceptively simple and emotive melodies, laden with resounding low-end and intricate drum patterns. With a love of drums rooting from childhood, his work reflects his passion – emitting percussive elements only a trained ear could produce.
Buku’s debut EP release, ‘Janky’, sent a shotgun blast into the Bass Music scene – quickly gaining support and full rotation by Diplo, who described Balotsky’s production style as ‘where dubstep is going’. Following his break into the genre, the producer has been championed by a variety of curators, including Liquid Stranger, Pete Tong & Zane Lowe, as well as garnering the support of his peers for collaborations with the likes of Paper Diamond, G. Jones, in addition to being tapped for remix duties for Minnesota, Griz, Nick Catchdubs, Brillz & Tropkillaz.

In 2021, Smith. performed to a sold-out crowd at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado supporting Subtronics. That same year, Smith. joined bass artists PEEKABOO and Level Up on their respective tours across North America to bring his sound to new ears. In 2022, Smith. will join Subtronics for his Spring 2022 tour that’s sure to represent Smith.’s significant presence in the scene. ill.Gates is a Toronto-born and now Vancouver based composer, performer and educator. Over the past decade, he has established a global fanbase and a reputation as one of the most dynamic electronic music artists around. His first full-length release, ‘Autopirate’ (Muti Music, 2008) charted on iTunes and dominated on Beatport, the epic 18 track album ‘The ill.Methodology’ (Muti Music, 2011) cracked the number 1 spot on iTunes and remains a strong seller.
His 2017 ’Terminally Ill’ album, saw huge response with features on EDM.com, iDJ Magazine, The Untz, Raverrafting and global radio play. His 2018 album ‘Departures’ took over multiple genres charts on Beatport and the standout tunes ‘Cthulhu’ and ‘Harmonica Lewinsky’ (with Mr. Bill) continue to show up in charts and playlists.
