A refined and exciting musical fresco where the virtuoso Carlo Aonzo shows the power and the elegance of the iconic Italian instrument and leads the audience to meet this symbolic instrument and its astonishing versatility: the mandolin as you have never heard before, in an uninterrupted flow of sounds ranging from the Baroque to the rock music, from the choro to the romanticism. The sound space is ‘pervaded’ with the Italian mandolin at its highest powerfulness.

Carlo Aonzo, the American Mandolin Championship winner, is a worldwide known Italian mandolin performer, teacher and researcher, he has played for such prestigious institutions as the Philharmonic Orchestra of La Scala in Milan, the McGill Chamber Orchestra in Montreal, the Carnegie Hall in New York and the Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata. He has recorded the album Traversata with the American mandolin guru David “Dawg” Grisman and performed at the Ryman Auditorium with Trey Anastasio (Phish) and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra.

Carlo’s deep interest in outreach activities focused on his instrument is witnessed by his countless collaborations with mandolin orchestras around the world and teaching activities for the most important international mandolin institutions namely the Classical Mandolin Society of America, the Federation of Australasian Mandolin Ensembles and the European Guitar and Mandolin Association.

Carlo’s numerous recordings and publications reflect his interests and skills relating to all different aspects of the mandolin repertoire as well as its history and tradition; he has given presentations at The Metropolitan Museum and St. John’s University in New York, the Dartmouth College, the Boston University, the New England Conservatory, the National Music Museum in Vermillion and the National Instrument Museum in Rome. Carlo is the dedicatee of several new compositions, as soloist, chamber musician and with orchestras, he often appears in national Radio and TV programs and has extensively toured Europe, North America, Japan, Indochina, Australia and India.

Food & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.
