This hands-on summer clay camp introduces teens ages 14–17 to the fundamentals of wheel-throwing in a supportive, studio-based environment. Over the course of the week, campers will learn core techniques such as centering, opening, and pulling to create cylinder forms on the wheel.
Projects may include dishes, bowls, planters, spoonrests – with room for individual ideas and creative direction. Campers will explore surface design through texture, carving, and basic glazing, and gain an understanding of how work moves through the kiln process. Instruction emphasizes craftsmanship, experimentation, and problem-solving, while encouraging teens to develop their own visual style.
No prior clay experience is required. All materials, tools, firings, and instruction are included. Finished pieces will be ready for pick-up 1-2 weeks after camp ends. Fridays are a relaxed, open-ended “Play With Clay” day, giving campers time to experiment, refine ongoing projects, or try new techniques with guidance from instructors.
Camp runs Monday–Friday from 9:00am–1:00pm. This camp takes place at our main location, 2050 S. High Street. We have clay camps all summer long, and some offerings at our Dublin location (within the Dublin Arts Center). Check out our summer camps webpage to see all of our camp offerings for the summer!
