Once the holiday season comes to a close, Winter can tend to feel a little dreary and saddening for some – especially for those who passionately despise the cold. However, Columbus, Ohio isn’t the worst of the worst when it comes to winter weather which means that there is still fun to be had even after the holidays!

That said, bundle up in your most puffy winter coats, grab you beanies, whip out those gloves, and enjoy this season for what it is!

Chin up, dear one.

1. Ice Skating

There’s few things as “on-brand” as iceskating in the winter time, and luckily there’s plenty of spots to do it! Step into some skates at Chiller Ice at Easton, Riverside Crossing Iceskating Rink, or the Ohio State University Ice Skating Rink!

2. Dine in an Igloo

Who says you can’t dine outdoors in the winter? Reserve an Igloo and enjoy a magical winter scene to accompany your dinner view! Check out our list of places offering igloo dining here.

3. Indoor Rollerskating

So if iceskating isn’t really your thing, try indoor rollerskating at places like Skate Zone 71 or United Skates of America!

4. Staycation

Sometimes, a nice vacation in your own backyard is the way to go. Make your way to Hocking Hills and stay in any one of their various airbnbs like this one on here on airbnb.com!

5. Otherworld

For some of the wildest immersive art you’ve ever seen, head to Otherworld which has 47 rooms filling 32 thousand square-feet for you to explore!

6. Spiked Hot Chocolate

Sip on some spiked hot chocolate and get warmed up from the inside out! Head to the Chocolate Cafe for a nice break from the winter weather.

7. See a Theatre Show

One of the best ways to avoid the winter weather is to head indoors for a theatre show in one of Columbus’ ornate theaters like The Ohio Theatre, The Palace Theatre, or the Southern Theatre.

8. Snowy Winter Hike

Head to Clear Creek Metro park, Battelle Darby Metro Park, or Walnut Woods Metro Park for the most magical, frosty Winter hike!

9. Go to a Jazz Club

Get in the mood with some amazing jazz and live music at Ginger Rabbit! Sip on a cocktail, munch on some food, and enjoy!

10. Have a Winter Beer at a Local Brewery

Try Land-Grant Brewing Company’s Grapefruit Frozen Grove, or Citra Noel from Columbus Brewing Company & Beer Hall!

11. Go sledding

We may not have the most mountainous topography here in Columbus, but we’ve still got some awesome sledding hills! Head to Whetstone Park of Roses and bundle up for a fun day of sledding!

12. Go to a Blue Jackets Game

Support our Blue Jackets and come decked out in all your gear! Remember to stay warm!

13. Walk the Scioto Mile

Yes, it might be frigid out – but the Scioto Mile is just too beautiful when it’s covered in a blanket of snow! Grab a hot drink and enjoy the scenery!
