Columbus style, tavern style, even square-cut style… whatever you call pizza in Columbus, we all know and love it like a warm hug from mom on Christmas Eve.
But, for the sake of stirring up controversy (and a little humor), we wanted to present our arguments for which Columbus style pizzas would make the Mt. Rushmore of pizza. Plus, top 10 rankings are boring and overdone (kinda how I like my pizza, too… cheesy and crispy)!
If we can get enough people to agree on this Mount Rushmore, maybe we can even carve their names into the rocks at Quarry Trails Metro Park!
Only half kidding…
Now Presenting: The Mount Rushmore of Columbus-Style Pizza Shops!
Thomas Jefferson | Terita’s
3905 Cleveland Ave, Columbus, OH 43224
Not the first to do it in Columbus, but certainly one of the best to ever do it! Much like Jefferson, Terita’s was on the scene early, and was pivotal in shaping the flavors and style of what would become Columbus-style pizza. This pie has the perfect amount of char and crispiness while still being fluffy and light inside the crust. Plus, their sauce is to die for. Thomas Jefferson would’ve loved this pie.

Theodore Roosevelt | Plank’s on Parsons
743 Parsons Ave, Columbus, OH 43206
Plank’s on Parsons marches to the beat of their own drum, which is very clear after you take one bite of their pie. Plank’s dough is sweet, which sets it up for a beautiful see-saw effect of sweet and savory on your tongue. Teddy Roosevelt was also one to march to the beat of his own drum, finding a deep interest in everything from cattle ranching to environmental conservation and police work. That, combined with his eccentric look, made this one a no-brainer. Plank’s and Teddy 4 lyfe.

Abraham Lincoln | Emelio’s Restaurant
574 Georgesville Rd, Columbus, OH 43228
Perhaps the restaurant most consistently rated as one of the best pizza spots around, Emelio’s Restaurant and Abraham Lincoln fit like a glove. But being consistently rated as the best doesn’t even come close to describe how good Emelio’s is. An exceptionally crispy crust but with a lightness that will stop you in your tracks, don’t be surprised if you take down an entire pie. Much like Lincoln, this spot is so soft-spoken — yet so undeniably good — that its existence tends to be taken for granted.

George Washington | TAT Ristorante Di Famiglia
1210 S James Rd, Columbus, OH 43227
No one else could fill Washington’s shoes quite like TAT Ristorante. Like ol’ George the General, TAT was the first of their kind in Columbus. TAT is credited for bringing pizza to Columbus back in 1929! Try to imagine a Columbus without pizza… it’s like imagining a world without the United States. So thank you, TAT Ristorante and George Washington, for your services to our city and to our nation!
